Cast finned aluminum replacement pan for GM 700R4, 4L60 and 4L60E units, 2-5/8 inch stock depth, with drain plug, gasket and bolts included.
A finned cast aluminum oil pan for the GM 700R4, 4L60 and 4L60E, replacing OE stamped steel pan SP8594BK. Depth is 2-5/8 inches, the same as the factory pan, so it clears the crossmember on stock trucks, Camaros, Firebirds and G-body cars without any modification and holds the same fluid volume. It ships with a pan gasket, the mounting bolts and a drain plug already fitted.
The reason to put one on is heat and serviceability. A steel pan is a flat panel that does nothing for the fluid temperature; the cast fins here add surface area right where the fluid pools, and aluminum sheds heat far faster than stamped steel. On a 700R4 or 4L60E that already runs warm behind a towing motor, that is a few degrees of headroom on the fluid, which is the single thing that kills the 3-4 clutch pack. The drain plug means the next fluid change is a wrench and a pan, not thirteen bolts and a mess down your arm.
It is also the correct fix when the original pan is bent. Steel pans get dented by road debris and warped by over-torqued bolts, and once the sealing rail is not flat the gasket weeps no matter how many times you retorque it. A cast pan has a thick, rigid rail that stays flat. Torque the bolts in a crossing pattern to the factory spec of about 11 lb-ft and do not go past it; aluminum pans do not need to be gorilla-tightened to seal.
Fits GM 700R4, 4L60 and 4L60E transmissions using the 16-bolt pan. Confirm your pan bolt count and depth before ordering if the unit has been swapped or already runs a deep pan.
