8HP70 Cast Aluminum Transmission Pan with Gasket, 228053000

This is a cast aluminum replacement oil pan for the ZF 8HP70 and 8HP75 eight-speed automatic, replacing part number 228053000. It fits 2013-2022 Ram 1500 with the 5.7L Hemi or 3.0L EcoDiesel, and 2015-2021 Dodge Charger and Challenger with the 5.7L or 6.4L V8. The kit includes the pan, a molded pan gasket and a full set of pan bolts.

Why swap it: the factory 8HP pan sits low, so it takes hits from rocks, jack pads and trail debris, and a cracked or bent pan on this unit means a fluid loss the transmission does not tolerate well. The finned cast body is far stiffer and sheds heat better than the OE pan, which helps on trucks that tow or Hemi cars that see hard launches.

On the vehicle: drain the fluid, remove the old pan bolts and drop the pan. No filter comes in the box, so have a new 8HP filter on hand and install it before the pan goes up. Clean the case sealing surface, set the new gasket in place, and run the bolts down evenly in a crisscross pattern to spec. Refill with ZF Lifeguard 8 or an approved 8-speed ATF through the fill plug with the engine running, and set the level at the correct temperature per the service procedure.
