TR580 CVT Transmission Solenoid Kit with O-Rings

This is the four-piece solenoid set for the Subaru TR580 Lineartronic CVT valve body. It also covers the TR690 in the applications listed below. The solenoids meter pulley pressure and line pressure in a chain CVT, so when one drifts out of range the transmission loses the ability to hold ratio, and the symptoms show up as shudder, slip under load, or a limp-in to a fixed ratio.

Replaces Subaru part numbers 31825-AA050, 31825-AA051, 31825-AA052, 31706-AA030, 31706-AA031, 31706-AA032, 31706-AA033, and Dorman 926-408. Fitment is 2012-2020 Impreza 2.0L, 2013-2020 Crosstrek 2.0L, 2014-2018 Forester 2.5L, 2013-2019 Legacy 2.5L and 2013-2019 Outback 2.5L. Verify the number stamped on the valve body before ordering, since Subaru changed solenoid part numbers partway through this run.

The bench work is straightforward once the pan and filter are off. Note the position of each solenoid before removal, since they are not interchangeable across ports, pull the retaining bracket, and lift each one straight out rather than rocking it, which tears the O-ring and leaves a piece of it in the bore. Fit the new O-rings from the kit, lubricate them with clean CVT fluid, and seat each solenoid fully before the bracket goes back on. Clear adaptives and run the relearn once the pan is sealed.

The kit ships as four solenoid valves with sealing O-rings and the mounting hardware. Fluid, filter and pan gasket are not included.
