W5A580 Transmission Conductor Plate with Speed Sensor

The conductor plate is the electronic brain sitting on top of the valve body in the 722.6 / NAG1 five-speed, badged W5A580 or WA580 depending on the year. It carries the shift and pressure solenoids' wiring, both internal speed sensors (input and turbine), and the 13-pin case connector that passes signal out to the TCM. It is also the single most common electrical failure in that transmission.

When the plate goes bad the symptoms are consistent: the truck drops into limp mode and holds second gear, the speedometer cuts out or reads erratically, and the scan tool logs speed sensor and solenoid circuit faults - P0715, P0720, P0731 through P0736, or the Chrysler-side N2/N3 sensor codes. Cracks in the plate's internal traces and a leaking case connector sleeve are the usual root cause, and they are not repairable. Fluid wicking up the harness into the TCM connector is a related tell worth checking while the pan is off.

This replacement plate cross-references OEM 1402701261, 52108308AC, 52108308AB, 68021352AA and 917-678, and includes the speed sensor connector. The job is done from underneath: drop the pan and filter, unplug the 13-pin connector at the case, release the solenoid connectors from the old plate, unbolt it, and set the new one on the valve body. Torque the plate bolts evenly, reconnect, and reinstall the pan with a new filter and gasket. Most units want a TCM quick-learn or adaptation reset afterward so shift timing relearns against the new sensors.
