Everything needed for a full 722.6 fluid and filter service on a 2010-2018 Sprinter 2500/3500: 8 liters of MB 236.14 red ATF, filter, pan gasket and bolts.
This is the complete bench list for servicing the 722.6 five-speed in a 2010-2018 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 or 3500. You get 8 x 1 liter bottles of German-made ATF built to Mercedes spec MB 236.14 (the red fluid, not the older blue 236.10/236.12), a transmission filter, the pan gasket, six pan bolts, the transmission drain plug sealing washer, a torque converter drain plug and the filler cap lock pin. Buying these pieces one at a time is where most Sprinter services go sideways, because the lock pin and the converter plug are the two parts people forget and then can't finish the job.
The 722.6 is not a drain-and-fill transmission in the normal sense. Pull the pan drain plug, drop the pan, swap the filter, then rotate the crank to bring the torque converter drain plug to the access hole in the bellhousing and drain the converter as well. That is the difference between a 5 liter partial change and getting the full 8 liters of old fluid out. Reinstall with the new gasket, snug the six bolts evenly, refill through the filler tube, and set the final level hot with the transmission in the correct fluid temperature window - the 722.6 has no dipstick from the factory and the level is set by the overflow tube, so temperature matters.
Deferred fluid on a 722.6 shows up as a shudder in lockup, a flare on the 2-3 shift, or a delayed engagement into drive when cold. Van fleets that tow or idle a lot cook this fluid faster than the service interval assumes. If the conductor plate or valve body is already being touched, do this service at the same time so the new parts are not running in burnt fluid.
