4L60E Rebuild Kit with Frictions, Steels and 3-4 PowerPack

This is a stage 3 heavy-duty overhaul kit for the GM 4L60E, and it also covers the 4L65E. It goes past a soft-parts reseal: the box carries the gaskets, oil seals and O-rings, a full set of friction plates and steel plates, a new 2-4 band, deep pan filters, and a 3-4 clutch PowerPack so you can stack more plates in the 3-4 drum than the factory pack holds.

Listed fitment runs 1997-2003: Silverado and Sierra 1500, C1500, Tahoe, Suburban 1500, Yukon-era trucks, Express and Savana 1500, Astro and Safari, S10, Sonoma, Blazer and Jimmy, Trailblazer and Envoy (2002-2003), Escalade (1999-2003), and the 1997-2002 Camaro and Firebird. Confirm your unit by the tag on the case before you order.

The 3-4 clutch is the part that kills the 4L60E. It burns up behind a worn pump or a leaking accumulator, and the result is a flare or no fourth gear. When you stack the PowerPack, measure clearance on the 3-4 pack after the apply ring is in and match it to your build spec, because the extra plate count leaves little room for error. Soak all frictions in ATF for at least 30 minutes before assembly, lube the lip seals, and air check the 3-4, forward, and 2-4 servo circuits before the valve body goes back on.

Hard parts like the sun shell, drums, planets, bushings and pump are not in this kit, so inspect them while the case is empty. A cracked sun shell or a scored pump will take out a fresh set of clutches in short order.
