This is a complete valve body for the GM 4L60E, 4L65E and 4L70E built for 2003-2005 model years. It comes assembled with the separator plate, the shift, TCC and pressure control solenoids, and the internal wiring harness already mounted, so it goes in as one unit instead of a pile of parts.
A worn valve body on a 4L60E usually shows up as harsh or late shifts, flare on the 1-2 or 2-3, no 3rd or 4th, torque converter lockup shudder, or shift solenoid and TCC codes that keep coming back after the solenoids alone were replaced. Worn aluminum bores around the valves are the common cause, and a solenoid kit will not fix a bore that leaks.
On the bench: drain and drop the pan, pull the filter, unplug the harness at the case connector, and remove the valve body bolts while holding the plate up against the case so the check balls stay where they are. Note each check ball location before the old plate comes down. Set the new body with its plate and gaskets, run the bolts in by hand, torque them in sequence to factory spec, then plug in the harness, fit a new filter and pan gasket, and refill.
Match the case connector and harness layout on your old unit to the pictures before ordering. 2003-2005 transmissions use a different harness than 1993-2002 units.
