Replaces the pressure-control and lock-up solenoids in a Subaru TR690 and TR580 Lineartronic CVT to cure start-up jerk, 20-40 mph hesitation and slip.
Four-piece solenoid set for the Subaru Lineartronic CVT — the TR690 and its TR580 variant used across 2012-2023 Impreza, 2014-2023 Forester, 2016-2019 Crosstrek, 2013-2019 Legacy and Outback, and 2015-2020 WRX. The kit covers the pressure-control (AWD/torque-converter) solenoid and the three lock-up solenoids, plus fresh isolator rings. OE references it replaces include 31825AA050, 31825AA051, 31825AA052, and 31706AA030 through 31706AA033.
These are the solenoids that meter line pressure to the primary and secondary pulleys. When they drift out of spec the belt clamping force falls behind ratio changes, and the car shows up with a shudder pulling away from a stop, hesitation in the 20-40 mph band, sluggish throttle, or a stored pressure/lock-up code. Left alone, low clamping pressure lets the chain slip and chews up the pulleys and valve body — the expensive failure this part heads off.
On the bench you drop the pan, unbolt the old solenoids from the valve body, and swap in the new units with the supplied rings before refilling with the correct Subaru CVT fluid. Bench-test each one first: the three lock-up solenoids read in the 12-13 ohm range and the pressure-control solenoid in the 3-3.5 ohm range, so an ohmmeter confirms good parts before they go back in. Plan on a fluid-level set and relearn afterward.
