4L60E Full Overhaul Rebuild Kit, 2004-Up

This is a complete overhaul kit for the late GM 4L60E, 2004 and up, and it also covers the 4L65E and 4L70E that share the same case and clutch layout. It packs the parts a full teardown calls for in one box: friction plates, a 2-4 band, a bushing kit, the pan filter, and the gasket and seal set, 10 components supplied together.

Order it when the unit is already coming out for slipping, burnt fluid, a lost 3-4 pack, or no reverse, and you want everything that wears or seals replaced at once instead of chasing a second failure a month later. The 2004-up spec matters here: late units use a different filter and seal details than the early 1993-2003 cases, so match the kit to the build year before you order.

On the bench: soak every new friction in clean ATF before assembly, set clutch pack clearances to the service manual range, replace the case bushings and the band, and install the new seals with assembly lube so nothing rolls or nicks on the way in. Finish with the new filter and pan gasket, fill, and run a relearn with a scan tool so shift pressures adapt to the fresh clutches.
